2020 MASAZA CUP FINAL: Gomba Win 5th Title After Defeating Buddu

The 2020 Masaza Cup Championship climaxed this evening at St.Mary’s Stadium, Kitende with Gomba sealing its 5th title following 3-1 victory over Buddu.

Charles Bbale, the top scorer of the tournament, gave Gomba an early lead in the 2nd minute tapping in Jackson Ssemugabi’s cross.

Titus Ssematimba levelled the matters by heading home Sharif Ssengendo’s corner kick in the 6th minute to give Buddu hopes of clinching their second title.

George Kaddu restored Gomba’s lead in the 11th minute with a free kick and Gift Fred sealed the win for Gomba by scoring a third goal for Ibrahim Kirya’s coached side in the 17th minute.

Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga was the guest of honour representing the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II who currently in Kenya on official duty.

Gomba’s Charles Bbale won the golden boot with 8 goals while while Arafat Usama of Busiro managed to scoop the MVP gong.

Busiro finished in the 3rd place by defeating Bulemeezi 5-3 on spot kicks following a goalless draw.

Gomba are the record champions after winning the tournament five times in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2017 and 2020.
