Bruno Fernandes admits Manchester United ‘are not on the same level’ as Man City after their defeat in the Manchester derby fixture on Saturday.

Man Utd were second best as Manchester City ran out comfortable winners in the derby fixture at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

Pep Guardiola’s side ran out comfortable 2-0 winners at Old Trafford thanks to an early own goal from Eric Bailly and a bizarre second goal from in-form midfielder Bernardo Silva.

Despite the close nature of the scoreline United never looked like getting anything from the match and were clearly second best against a City side which hardly broke a sweat.

The derby defeat came just two weeks after United were also thrashed 5-0 by Liverpool in their last home fixture with the pressure piling on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after another pathetic team performance.

Speaking after the match talisman midfielder Fernandes admitted his side are not on the same level as City but insisted they do have the players to put things right.

“They showed us today we are not at the same level,” he admitted to BBC Sport.

“They played well, they don’t give you opportunities to win the ball off them so praise to them but (our) standards need to be raised.”

At the moment we are (far off the top teams). The demands on me and the players are going to be high and we have to get back to what we started to look like. We have the players to do that.”
