Abtex Orders Media Houses To Stop Playing Sera Bata Songs, Demands 400m
April 20, 2023Events promoter Abbey Musinguzi aka Abtex has ordered media houses, personalities to stop playing Batamuliza Serena aka Serena Bata songs and demands she pays him 400m.
Through his lawyers, Lukwako & Co. Advocates, Abtex says he signed Serena Bata and paid for the recording and promotion of songs; Bikalubye ft Chris Evans, Single and It’s Okay, Rukundo ft Ray G, Ewange ft Geosteady, Ebisenge ft Peace Lalisa, Gwantama ft Nina Rose, Ofunye ft Yaled and Omulala.
Being a businessman, he went further and registered the songs in Uganda Registration Service Bureau (URSB).
In November 2022, Abtex publicly fired Serena Bata for contract breach. According to Abtex, Serena Bata was filmed publicly smoking Shisha which contradicts with the agreement they signed.
He also accuses Serena of sneaking and performing at a music show which Abtex Promotions did not know about.
Abtex says Serena has been performing his songs at concerts/shows without permission and demands 100m. He also demands Serena pays him 300m for contract breach.
In case Serena feels she can’t pay 400m, she can pay 350m to be allowed to perform the above mentioned songs . She has 7 days to respond.
It should be noted that Serena was previously managed by another music promoter, Charles Olim aka Sipapa until May 2021, when he kicked her out.
After leaving Sipapa’s rental, Serena Bata started dating fellow singer, Melody.
With her music career on the edge, Abtex rescued her and offered a new lease of life.
