Uganda 1-0 South Sudan
Uganda Cranes have defeated South Sudan national team, ‘Bright Stars’ 1-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium – Kitende behind closed doors this evening.
Vipers SC captain, Halid Lwaliwa who came on as a substitute in place of injured Ronald Mukibi saved the Cranes with a header in 85th minute converting a well curled in free-kick from Farouk Miya.
South Sudan played a defensive game straight away from the kickoff but failed to utilise their two chances from counter attacks.
The Cranes looked average today but survived a stalemate from hard fought South Sudan.
Uganda Cranes’ technical team made a couple of changes in the game.
First, Emmanuel Okwi was replaced by Allan Okello in the 58th minute before Lwaliwa’s forced change.
Karim Watambala and Edrisa Lubega were also introduced for Khalid Aucho and Paul Derrick Nsibambi respectively.
Left back Joseph Ochaya got cautioned in the final stages of the game, a decision that automatically rules him out of the return leg on Monday, 16th November 2020 at Nyayo national stadium in Nairobi-Kenya.
