Eddy Kenzo Nominated For Grammy Awards 2023

Eddy Kenzo, real name Edrisa Musuuza has been nominated for Grammy Awards 2023 in the category of Best Global Music Performance.

Kenzo who on Saturday staged a successful ‘Eddy Kenzo Festival’ at Kololo Independence Grounds, earned a nomination thanks to his collaboration song ‘Gimme Love’ with American singer, Matthew David Benson aka Matt B.

Other artists nominated under the same category are; Arooj Aftab $ Anoushka Shankar (Ughero Na0, Burba Boy (Last Last), Rocky Dawuni FT Blvk H3ro (Neva Bow Down), Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini & Nomcebo Kikode (Bayethe).

Kenzo is not the first Ugandan artist to be nominated in Grammy Awards. In 2005, ‘Abayudaya’ Album from the ‘Jewish people of Uganda’ from Eastern Uganda produced by Jeffrey Summit was nominated for a Best Traditional World Music album at the 47th Grammy Awards.

Kenzo continues to thrive musically, In 2015, Eddy Kenzo clinched the ‘Viewer’s Choice Best New International Artist’ gong at the 2015 BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
