MTN, Airtel Systems Hacked, Mobile Money Services Suspended

Telecom giants, MTN and Airtel have suspended the mobile money services after after interruptions in their systems.
This development was confirmed in the joint statement released yesterday, October 5th.
MTN Uganda and Airtel Uganda wish to inform the public and their customers that due to unprecedented technical challenges, mobile money services between the two networks are temporarily suspended.
Out technical teams are working together to resolve the challenges and restore the services as soon as possible.
We apologize to all customers for any inconveniences that this has caused and reiterate out commitment to delivering seamless mobile money services.
The suspension of the mobile money system comes in school fees payment week.
We are not yet sure when the system will be restored but their technical teams are working tooth and nail to solve the issue.
