Sipapa was paraded in court yesterday and released from prison on a cash bond of four million shillings following three weeks languishing in the dungeon.

Charles Olim aka Sipapa, a renowned music promoter, revealed that he spent three weeks in a safe house where he saw a number of evil things that happen in safe house detention rooms.

However, he kept tight-lipped about the charges that he is charged with as he stressed that he is not sure of the cases as well.

“For now, I don’t want to talk about the charges that I have been charged with. I have spent three weeks in a store that you can call a safe house. I have seen very many uneasy things in there. I have also seen a 50-year person being beaten and tortured. Safe houses even have 5-year-old children in there which is not good at all. So those in charge of the safe houses should improve on the situation or review on what they do”, Sipapa disclosed.

Sipapa thanked those who have stood in solidarity with him and supported his family for the three weeks he has been away.

How Sipapa was arrested?

While at a certain hotel in Makindye, Sipapa was arrested together with Record Elah Butida of ‘Bakabasajja Banyuma’ hit, his driver, Julius, a female friend and detained at Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Kireka.

After almost two weeks in detention, Record Elah Butida, Julius and unidentified female friend were set free.

According to their lawyer, the police charged Sipapa and his colleagues of theft of three mobile phones, a laptop, and a power bank. This was trashed by Record Elah Butida and two others who argue that they were flamed.

Sipapa, NRM mobiliser, has managed and supported several artists’ music careers including Chameleone, Buchaman, Lil Pazo, Serena Batta among others.
