Uganda Cranes 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification Hopes Over After Kenya Draw
November 11, 2021The Uganda Cranes chances of qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar are OVER after registering 1-1 draw against Harambe Stars of Kenya at St.Mary’s Stadium Kitende this evening.
The Cranes came from behind to snatch a draw at home after Michael Olunga gave the visitors a lead in 60th minute. With two minutes to full time, Fahad Bayo scored an equalizer after Kenyan goalkeeper, Brian Bwire made a blunder.
Uganda Cranes’ hopes of qualifying were further dealt a blow after table leaders Mali managed to beat Rwanda 3-0 in Kigali.
With one fixture remaining, Mali have already advanced to third round where ten group winners from the second round will be drawn into five home-and-away ties.
The winners of each fixture will advance to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
As Group E stands after 5 matches, Mali are on top with 13 points, Uganda 9, Kenya 3 and Rwanda at the bottom with 1 point.
