He was buried at his ancestral home in Nakaliro village, Kayunga District, Uganda, on May 30, 2017.

Members of the “Rich Gang” group tossed cash (South African Rands, Ugandan Shillings, and US Dollars) and champagne into his grave during the ceremony.

8 years after his demise, Simon Kaggwa Njala reignited controversy by claiming that the former Rich Gang boss is still alive.

“I doubt whether Ssemwanga died. Nobody saw his autopsy report. Not even Uganda’s High Commission in South Africa. I look forward to details”, Njala posted on X.

“This is one of the mysterious deaths to date. I was curious about the circumstances surrounding his death. When I called Steve Biko hospital, they confirmed that there was never any patient called Ssemwanga admitted to their hospital. Not even by the other names as claimed”, He added.

Don Ivan’s family has hit back at Njala’s unprofound claims, advising the journalist to lay low like an envelope.

Zari criticized nosy onlookers and individuals digging into the past, stating that most people have nothing to do and branding the speculation as idle.
