Charles Muhangi scoops Lifetime achievement accolade from Fortebet Real Stars sports monthly awards.
October 9, 2024It is an outstanding recognition for the rally driver who passed on in 2018 recieving the September accolade.
The driver became the first and only Uganda to win the Africa Rally Championship from in 1999 a record which is still standing.
His widow Petience Muhangi representated the Family at the awarding event held at Lazo restaurant in Kololo on 8 October 2024.
In active sportsmanship youthful forward Herbert Assimwe won the football accolade for the month of September.
The player dubbed as Camavinga scored in each of the game he played in Start Times Uganda Premier League.
The new player in the League managed to score against Mbale Heroes, Brightstars and Maroons where he bagged brace playing for Wakiso Giants.
The forward also added more two goals for Buwekula in Airtel Masaza cup.
The performance posted bettered KCCA FC’s Said Mayanja and NEC FC’s Enock Ssebagala for the accolade.
At the event Assimwe spoke in his voice and stated
“everyone wants to be nominated but things are not easy, for me being here it is a pleasure, it is a result of team work at my club Wakiso Giants therefore I dedicate this award to the family of Purple Sharks”
September awards have had three winners and the other two were Herbert Matovu and Isaac Ariho.
Matovu won the boxer of September for his Africa Boxing Union regional tittle win after beating Tanzania’s Kheri Mbaruku.
The fight was held at YMCA on 7 September 2024 in Sweet Science fights organised by Nara Promotion and it was won on Knockout in first round.
To win the accolade, heavy weight Boxer managed to overcome competition from two Uganda Boxing Champions League top performers in Ukasha Matovu and Owen Kibira.
The other category was woodball on its return as Isaac Ariho defeats Alfred Nsabimana and Joyce Nalubega for the accolade.
Ariho The warder helped Uganda Prisons win the third consecutive Woodball League trophy losing just one of his seven games in September.
He started with a dominant display at their home grounds in Luzira by beating Fred Turyakira of Prisons 7-0 and closed the month with two decisive wins over Simon Peter Otim of Stroke and Delick Ankunda of Ndejje on the final outing at Makerere University.
He also team up with Abednego Okello to beat KIU’s pair of Bruno Ssekidde and Timothy Suuna 5-1 while stayed formidable with Isaac Nabugere to beat KU’s Matthias Wahala and Raphael Kanabahirwa in another double.
