Ugandan events promoters led by Abbey Musinguzi famously known as Abitex are demanding billions of money from government.
They said that the government should be responsible for their losses and the fact that concerts haven’t been doing so well, they now need money to pay off their loans.
For a very long period of time, the government wasn’t helping the music industry yet they are claimed to be the one of the biggest sectors that bring in so much money to the government in form of taxes.
Three years ago the musicians started demanding for money and they were told to form associations and federation in order to get money.
They did that and now there is money that has been allocated to them which triggered the promoters to also go and fight for what is theirs.

According to Abitex, promoters are also part of the entertainment industry and they need a budget to keep running.
Yesterday a group of promoters stormed the ministry of gender but unfortunately they didn’t succeed in what they wanted.
Abitex said that they will keep showing up until their needs are met by the government and everyone is happy about it.
