Ugandan music legend Jose Chameleone (Joseph Mayanja) and his wife Daniella Atim have formally agreed to divorce after living apart for over five years.
Daniella will retain custody of their five children, while Chameleone has agreed to pay her $2,000 (about Shs7.5 million) monthly in child support.
Daniella Atim will have full custody of their five children — Abba, Alpha, Amma, Alba, and Xara Mayanja. Their father Chameleone will be allowed visitation.
He has agreed to pay $2,000 (Shs7.5 million) monthly to cover education, healthcare, and general welfare. The issue of marital property remains unresolved and will be determined by the Family Division of the High Court.
The agreement was reached through court-ordered mediation led by Justice Jane Okuo Kajuga, but it still awaits her official approval.
The couple married in June 2008 at St James Catholic Parish in Kampala in a high-profile wedding attended by celebrities and politicians.
